Ramechap district is located in a mountainous region in central Nepal, and not geographically far from Kathmandu. It is situated in the height of 1000 meters meters to 4848 meters from sea level and its area is 1564 square kilometers. Total population of Ramechap district is 202,646 according to census 2011. The main profession of the residents in this district is agriculture. The district administrative headquarter is Manthali municipality. Dinner and overnight at local tea house.
Walking 4 hrs approx. We fly from Ramechap to the tiny airstrip at Lukla (2840m) built in sixties by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas. The flight itself is awe-inspiring. We then take an easy walk to Phakding , An easy day to help for acclimatization. This is a busy trail with plenty of human interest. There are also tantalizing glimpses of Kusum Kangaroo (6369m) through the beautiful pine forests.
Namche Bazaar (3440 m) Walking 5-6 hrs approx. Not a long day but a hard pull up to Namche Bazaar. As we climb we have our first views of Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7879m). We camp right in the heart of the village and have the rest of the day to enjoy the splendid Sherpa hospitality. We enjoy a rest day here to allow for maximum acclimatization on our way to Everest Base Camp. A pleasant day can be spent exploring the village
After breakfast day hike to Syangboche, Everest View hotel and return to Namche, REST AND ACCLIMATISATION DAY. A pleasant day can be spent exploring the village, talking to the Sherpas and simply marveling at the incredible scenery.
Thyangboche (3860m)Monastery Walking 5-6 hrs approx. We walk along a very pleasant trail under the soaring peak of Tamserku and steadily descend to the Imja Khola and lunch at Phunki Tenga, where there are a series of water driven prayer wheels. In the afternoon we climb steadily or about 2 hrs to Thyangboche Monastery (3875m) and the views are magnificent. The Monastery is literally surrounded by mountains, yaks graze on the small meadow and the monks drone through their prayers. Surely, one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
(Dingboche 4410m) Walking 5-6 hrs approx. We move up the lmja Khola valley to Pangboche (3900m). We stop here for lunch and to visit the Monastery and look at the Yeti scalp. In the afternoon we continue on to the summer village of Dingboche. The scenery all day is superb.
(Lobuje 4930m) Walking 4-5 hrs approx. We walk up a small ridge and then contour round the base of the Khumbu Glacier and have a light lunch at Dhugla (4600m). From here we have a short steep climb to the terminal moraine of the glacier from where the views are stunning. We contour round the moraine again to camp at the foot of the Lobuje Ice Fall (4930m).
Today we climb Kala Patar. The actual distance is not so far but we take it very slowly to compensate for the altitude stopping at Gorak Shep (5288m) for a light lunch. We then take the climb to Kala Pattar (5545m). This is a hard pull but the view from the top surpasses anything you can imagine. All around us flows huge glaciers and the silence of these altitudes is only disturbed by the creaking of the mobile glacier ice. The mountains of Pomori (7145m), Lingtren (6697m) and Khumbutse (6623m) separate us from Tibet, and just over the Lho La pass we see the huge rock of Changtse (7550m) in Tibet itself. But the Queen of them all Sagarmatha towers over everyone. This is the Roof of the World. Overnight at Gorak Shep.
Trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC 5364m) will take you along the undulating trail to this much coveted place. From here you can observe the blue ice and the Khumbu icefall. This trekking will be an unforgettable experience in your lifetime. Head back to Gorek Shep. Overnight at Lobuche.
We retrace our steps along the glacier to Pheriche (4260m) and stop for lunch. In the afternoon we take the lower trail to Pangboche. Monastery of Pengboche is well known all over the world.
Walking 6 hrs approx. Descending to Imja Khola we climb to Khumjung for lunch. Khumjung is surround the valley of the snowy peaks of Kongde and Thamserku, and the famous Everest View hotel is tucked away discretely around a hill to the south. Khumjung hosts a well-known “Gomba” or monastery that houses what may be a yeti scalp. It remains from a deceased yeti that was befriended by a Lama centuries ago. Another set of busy and colorful monasteries, lined with prayer wheels and prayer flags, are braced along the slopes high above the village.The primary and secondary school known as the Hillary school in Khumjung was established in 1960. In the adjoining sister village of Khunde to the west there is also the Khunde, also established and supported by the Hillary Foundation. Continue to Namche.
Walking 7 hrs approx. We walk to Lukla and enjoy a farewell party with our Sherpa crew.
Drive to Kathmandu by private four wheels drive 3-4 hours, transfer to hotel.
